Circular Saws are capable of more than you might think. Tim Carter's tips will help get better cuts.
Circular saw blades rotate up. That is important so you know how circular saws cut. If you cut parallel to the wood grain, the cut will be smooth with little splintering. Cutting against the grain of the wood, can create splinters on the edge of the cuts. Use a utility knife or razor knife to score the wood along the cut line. The pre-scoring of the grain will keep the edge from splintering.
A curve can be cut with a circular saw. Adjust the blade to a depth just slightly deeper than the thickness of the wood. Now slowly follow your curved line and the saw will make the cut.
Follow these tips to get more out of your circular saw and make better cuts.
