A circular saw is available either corded or cordless. Cordless circular saws are lighter and just as powerful. They have slightly smaller blades, but can make cuts just like the corded circular saws. With the proper saw blade, they can be used for cutting a variety of materials, including wood and metal.

Cordless saws are available in a variety of voltage options. There are models with an 18 or 24 volt battery. The higher the number, the more power the saw will have.
Even with the smaller diameter circular saw blade, the cordless 6-1/2" diameter saw blade is still big enough for cutting through those 2x4's and 2x6's. Just like their corded counterparts.
