If you want a professional looking paint finish, you need the proper paint brush. Since the paint brush is the tool that applies the paint, it has a lot to do with the finish. Cheap paint brushes don't always save you money. You might spend more time painting because you are not getting the proper coverage.

Since most exterior paints are latex, your paint brush should be made from nylon or polyester. Split ends is a good thing with paint brushes. The split ends help spread the paint better.

A paint brush with the bristles cut at an angle will help you apply paint in those tight corners, around windows and doors, and up under the roof. Brushes of various widths maybe required on your project if you have a variety of objects to paint.

Paint brushes with square bristles are great for those wide open areas. They come in a variety of widths also.

In a few cases, paint manufacturers have a paint brush designed specifically for their paint. Be sure to match the paint and the paint brush for the best looking results.
